Fontus is a water bottle that converts water vapor from the air into clean drinking water. It uses solar energy to power to water condenser. This has to do with the issue of clean sources of water for personal or mass production. This technology, if given the right capacity and scale, could potentially give small communities with no real source of clean water a way to access water.

Plant lamps is a project that uses electrons emitted from microorganisms around plant roots in the dirt to power LED lights in places with no substantial source of clean power. It uses no gas, oil, or coal and is very clean. Prototypes have been given to households in Nuevo Saposoa, a village in a rain forest.

  1. Fontus is an interesting invention. I'm curious of what will happen to the climate (clouds and rain) if everyone depends on this new technology.

  2. I love the idea of being able to "create" water while you do some activity. I've seen similar bottles advertised for athletes, showing that they'll have water ready for them when they need it, and it'll refill itself as they do their activity. I think I would worry about the water quality in some cities and countries, what with the air pollution being so bad, but this idea would be great for countries that are in a drought and just getting access to drinking water is a problem.
