Jesse Skupa - Self Portrait

I ended up using a triad using blues, greys, yellows, greens and orange! I felt that this assortment of colors was very expressive and loud which I felt worked perfectly with my theme for my piece.

For my piece I wanted to focus on identity.  How we personally identify as well  how we want to identify ourselves based on societies standards. My whole life I've struggled to fix the norms of society by doing the "cool kid stuff" and wearing the rights clothes. It wasn't until I got tired of creating a facade for others that I learned to love myself (yes I know really cheesy). Instead I left myself we weird, and quirky and love me for me. This image presented here is the representation of how we all want to identify as something others than ourself and we find that while we do all the rights things we aren't being true to ourself and who we are. Being weird and quirky is the new cool!

  2. I can't say I believe that you're "ok" as your self-portrait suggest but the image is very good. I love the bricks with their cracks, the crumbled corner (of the paper) and the quality of your image.
