Brett Parrott: Animation examples

This is a link to a clip from a series of animated shorts called "The diary of Tortov Roddle. " By Aru Tabibito no Nikki. I enjoy its illustrative aesthetics as well as its often surreal content. The series has only 6 episodes and is only about 15 minutes of total time, but it is definitely one to watch.

This is a link to short film entitled "Ursa Minor Blue." by Shigeru Tamura. I love this animation mostly because of the children's-book aesthetic, the surrealism, the fantasy elements, and the beautiful color schemes. The film is shorter than an average TV show episode so if one has the time I would highly recommend watching both this, and any of Tamura's other work.

This is a link to a short animation called " Black Hole, White Hole." by Istvan Orosz. He employs a monochromatic color scheme, very sketchy looking aesthetics, and plenty of almost acid-culture illusion moments when one scene transforms into a completely different and irrelevant scene.

  1. I like how the first example still looks hand drawn. The sketchiness or pen drawn aspect of the third example is very cool as well.
