This B/VLOG presents the work of my Wichita State University students in the areas of Digital Studio, Video, Sound, Performance and Alternative Media Processes. Class links, playlists, examples and journal entries may also be found here.
These maps were originally altered digitally, because I was looking for a sign in the atmosphere of an earthquake ready to happen the day before on Google maps. During this process I also wanted to look at the change on the earth after the earthquake. I began to look at the tragedy going on closer to the earth, and wondering about the people. This spurned me into reading about each earthquake and how many casualties there were how many people were homeless and missing. I also got concerned over the fact that they were major earthquakes all within a year of each other. So I began reading about the effects that it had on the earth. The Chilean and Japanese earthquake shifted the earth’s axis, shortening the length of the day.
